Fairtrade Chocolate from Cocoa Loco
With Easter Sunday fast approaching, it’s crunch time for finding the perfect Easter treat. Our lovely supplier Cocoa Loco provide us with organic and fairtrade chocolate for you to get stuck into!
The choice of chocolate can seem overwhelming come Easter time, with supermarket shelves stacked to the brim for the celebration. However, a lot of this chocolate is not ethical or sustainable, with excessive packaging and the mistreatment of the workers and farmers who produce it. Like all our organic produce, we aim to ensure that our organic chocolate is as ethical and sustainable as possible, sourced from the best small scale and independent artisan suppliers.
One of these suppliers is Cocoa Loco, a fairtrade chocolate company who pride themselves on being ethical, sourcing their cocoa from the Dominican Republic where fairtrade helps supports farmers and workers, helping stimulate both social and environmental change for the better.

We had a chat with Anna from Cocoa Loco to find out more about why choosing fairtrade and organic chocolate is better and what inspired them to create their amazing seasonal treats this Easter.
How did Cocoa Loco get started and what inspired your journey?
“We began making chocolate in 2005 when we were struggling to find delicious, organic and Fairtrade chocolate. We were shocked by the mistreatment of cocoa farmers in growing countries and wanted Cocoa Loco to make a difference. We started by making and selling chocolate brownies at local markets, and before we knew it we were expanding into making chocolates!”
Why is being organic important to you?
“We believe that organic chocolate is better for the planet and better for our bodies. It's produced to the highest standards of animal welfare, using fewer pesticides, no artificial additives, preservatives or GM ingredients. So, you can eat organic chocolate and feel pretty good about it!”

One of our favourite products this Easter is your marbled chocolate Easter egg, what makes it so special?
“We just love how individual and distinctive all our marbled Easter eggs are. Each one is hand-poured using a mix of white, milk and dark chocolate so the result is always completely unique. No two eggs are the same - and we love that! They're also crammed full of milk chocolate buttons - so there's even more chocolate to go around.”
If you had to describe the Cocoa Loco ethos in just three words, what would they be?
“Ethical, fun, delicious!”
