Organic Buttermilk Chicken Wings

Delicious, crispy and tender Organic Buttermilk Chicken Wings recipe using organic buttermilk and organic chicken wings

A family favourite with a tangy twist! These tender, flavour-packed chicken wings are marinated in organic buttermilk and coated in a light, spiced flour before baking to golden perfection. Great for sharing, simple to prepare, and sure to be a crowd-pleaser — just the kind of comfort food we all need.


Ingredients

Serves 4–6

For the marinade:

  • 1kg Eversfield Organic Chicken Wings

  • 300ml organic buttermilk

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

  • 1 tsp sea salt

  • Freshly ground black pepper

  • Juice of ½ lemon

For the coating:

  • 150g plain organic flour

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp dried thyme

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional for serving:

  • Organic yoghurt or sour cream dip

  • Chopped parsley or chives

  • Lemon wedges


Method

  1. Marinate the Wings
    Place the chicken wings in a large bowl or reusable bag. In a separate bowl, mix together the buttermilk, lemon juice, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne (if using), salt and pepper. Pour over the chicken wings, ensuring they’re fully coated.
    Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight – this helps tenderise the meat and build flavour.

  2. Prepare the Coating
    In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, smoked paprika, thyme, baking powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

  3. Coat the Wings
    Preheat your oven to 200°C / 180°C fan / Gas mark 6.
    Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place a wire rack on top (if available – this helps crisp them up).
    Remove the wings from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge each wing in the seasoned flour mix. Gently shake off any extra coating and place on the prepared tray.

  4. Bake Until Crisp
    Lightly drizzle or spray the wings with organic olive oil.
    Bake for 35–40 minutes, turning once halfway, until golden and crisp on the outside and fully cooked through inside.

  5. Serve and Enjoy
    Serve warm with a cool yoghurt dip, lemon wedges and a scattering of fresh herbs. Perfect for parties, picnics or just a cosy night in.
