Making the Most of Every Bite: Chicken Skin Recipes

If you’ve ever wondered what to do with chicken skin, we’re here to help with a few easy and tasty ideas that the whole family will love. Here are some delicious ways to use our organic chicken skin:

1. Crispy Chicken Skin Crackling

Ingredients:

  • 200g organic chicken skin (from your Eversfield box)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or rendered chicken fat

  • Sea salt

  • Cracked black pepper

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan).

  2. Lay the chicken skin flat on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  3. Brush lightly with olive oil or chicken fat and sprinkle generously with sea salt and a little black pepper.

  4. Place another sheet of parchment over the skin and top with another tray to keep it flat.

  5. Roast for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and crisp.

  6. Let cool and break into pieces. Enjoy as a snack or crumble over soups, mash, or salads for extra texture.


2. Chicken Skin Tacos

Ingredients:

  • 150g organic chicken skin

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1 tsp chilli flakes (optional)

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

  • 4 small tortillas

  • Shredded lettuce

  • Natural yoghurt or salsa, to serve

Method:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a pan and cook the chicken skin over medium heat until crispy and golden, about 10–15 minutes.

  2. Remove from heat, drain on kitchen paper, and chop into bite-sized pieces.

  3. Toss with lime juice, coriander, and chilli flakes if using.

  4. Warm the tortillas and fill with the crispy chicken, lettuce, and a spoonful of yoghurt or salsa. Quick, tasty, and loved by kids and adults alike.


3. Chicken Skin Flavoured Cooking Oil

Ingredients:

  • 150g organic chicken skin

  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Method:

  1. Place the chicken skin in a cold, heavy-bottomed frying pan or saucepan.

  2. Slowly heat on low, letting the fat render out gently—this takes 15–25 minutes.

  3. Once the skin is browned and crisp, remove with a slotted spoon (you can save it for topping dishes).

  4. Strain the fat through a sieve into a clean jar. Store in the fridge and use like butter or oil for frying eggs, roasting veg, or giving greens a rich flavour lift.


4. Crispy Chicken Skin Fried Rice

Ingredients:

  • 100g organic chicken skin

  • 2 cups cooked rice (cold, ideally from the day before)

  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1/2 cup frozen peas

  • 3 spring onions, chopped

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce or tamari

  • 1 tbsp oil or reserved chicken fat

Method:

  1. In a frying pan or wok, cook the chicken skin over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.

  2. In the same pan, add a little oil or chicken fat and cook the spring onions for 1–2 minutes.

  3. Add the beaten eggs and scramble briefly.

  4. Stir in the rice and peas, breaking up clumps, and cook for 4–5 minutes until everything is heated through.

  5. Add soy sauce or tamari to taste, then stir in the crispy chicken skin. Serve warm and enjoy the savoury crunch.
