How To Cook
Reheating the Pre-Made Haggis
Ingredients:
- 350g pre-made haggis
- 250ml water (or beef/lamb stock for added flavour)
- 1 tbsp whisky (optional)
Instructions:
-
Boiling Method (Traditional):
- Place the pre-made haggis in a pot and cover it with water (or stock). Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
- Simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the size of the haggis. Make sure the haggis is fully heated through.
- If you'd like, add 1 tablespoon of whisky to the water for extra flavour.
- Once heated, remove the haggis and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
-
Oven Method (Quick):
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Wrap the haggis in foil, place it on a baking tray, and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until fully heated. You can add a splash of whisky to the foil packet for extra flavour.
Scotch Whisky Sauce for Haggis (Optional)
This is a lovely addition to pour over the haggis.
Ingredients:
- 100ml Scotch whisky
- 100ml double cream
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
Instructions:
- In a pan, melt the butter and add the whisky. Let it simmer for 1 minute to cook off the alcohol.
- Stir in the cream and let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
- Add fresh parsley and serve with the haggis.
