Why use Fortified Beef Mince?
Eversfield’s Fortified Beef Mince blends 75% premium 95VL organic beef trim with 15% organic beef heart and 10% organic beef liver. The organ meats give natural nutrients (iron, vitamin A, B12, zinc and folate) while keeping the texture and taste of classic beef mince — a brilliant way to boost family meals subtly and deliciously.

Method — Step by Step
1. Make the patties
-
In a bowl, combine the fortified beef mince, grated onion, garlic (if using), Worcestershire sauce, paprika, mustard, egg (if using), and a good pinch of salt and pepper.
-
Mix gently — avoid overworking (over-mixing makes dense burgers).
-
Divide into 4 equal portions and shape into patties slightly wider than your buns (they shrink while cooking). Press a small dimple in the centre of each patty with your thumb; this helps them cook evenly without bulging.
2. Chill briefly
Place the patties on a plate, cover, and chill in the fridge for 15–30 minutes. This helps them hold together on the grill.
3. Cook the burgers
-
Heat a griddle pan, heavy frying pan or barbecue to medium-high. Brush patties with a little oil.
-
Cook the patties for 3–4 minutes on the first side, without pressing them down. Flip and cook for another 3–4 minutes for medium (adjust timing to your preferred doneness). Add cheese in the final minute and cover to melt.
-
Internal temperature for medium beef is about 71°C (160°F) — use a thermometer if you’d like to be precise.
4. Toast the buns & warm the toppings
Butter the cut faces of the buns and lightly toast them in the pan until golden. Warm any sides (fries, corn, roasted veg) while burgers rest for a couple of minutes.
5. Build your spooky burgers
Assemble in this order for best results: bottom bun → sauce → lettuce/tomato → burger → cheese (if using) → caramelised onion / pickled beetroot → crunchy topping → more sauce → top bun. Get creative: label sauces and toppings with fun Halloween names to delight kids.
Fun ideas to make Halloween burger night special
-
DIY Burger Bar: Lay out buns, toppings and sauces; let everyone build their own “monster” burger.
-
Name the Burgers: Offer a “Vampire,” “Werewolf,” and “Pumpkin King” burger — each with signature toppings.
-
Costume & Movie Night: Pair the meal with a family-friendly spooky film and a simple costume theme.
-
Mini-Burger Option: Make 6–8 slider-size patties for little hands and party grazing.
-
Cooking with Kids: Let children mix patties, sprinkle seeds on buns, or arrange the toppings — involvement increases appetite!
Storage, Safety & Serving Notes
-
The fortified mince cooks and behaves like regular beef mince. Because it contains organ meat, treat it like fresh mince: refrigerate promptly and cook through.
-
Leftover cooked patties freeze well (wrap individually) — reheat gently to preserve texture.
-
Always supervise children during cooking activities and ensure patties reach a safe internal temperature if serving to very young children or vulnerable people.
