Ross from Otter Valley Poultry

For us, our organic farmers are part of our Eversfield Organic family. We seek out farmers who share our passion for organic principles and who raise animals with care, integrity, and respect for the land.

One such farmer is Ross, from Otter Valley Poultry. He has been farming poultry in the beautiful Blackdown Hills of East Devon for more than two decades, and we are proud to have partnered with Otter Valley Poultry for our organic chickens, ducks and organically reared geese for the last five years.

We don’t think you could find a county more perfectly situated for raising healthy and happy chickens, ducks and geese than the green fields of Devon, where Otter Valley poultry roam freely and forage on nutrient rich grass and natural feed, contributing to the incredible flavour and quality of the meat.

Ross ensures a habitat that supports the wellbeing of his animals, allowing them to live as naturally as possible and with Soil Association certification, we can be sure that our poultry has the highest standards of animal welfare.  

We recently visited our gaggle of Christmas geese and saw first hand their freedom to roam, warm shelter and the care Ross provides. They have been reared from chicks and slow grown to allow a good layer of intramuscular fat to develop naturally. Once you taste the difference that this gives to your Christmas roast, you will be a goose convert - especially when you have the added bonus of all that delicious goose fat for your roasties!
