Beef Fat vs Beef Suet: What’s the Difference? Reading Classic Organic Suet Dumplings 2 minutes

A simple, comforting addition to soups and stews, these organic suet dumplings are perfect for hearty family meals. Using Eversfield Organic Beef Suet gives them a light, fluffy texture and a rich, traditional flavour.

Ingredients (Makes 8 dumplings)

  • 500g Eversfield Organic Beef Suet

  • 300g plain flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 150ml cold water

  • Optional: chopped fresh herbs (e.g., parsley or thyme) for flavour

Method

  1. Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Incorporate suet
Rub the suet into the flour mixture with your fingers until it’s evenly distributed.

  3. Add water
Gradually pour in cold water, mixing gently until a soft dough forms. Add a little extra water if needed — the dough should hold together but not be sticky.

  4. Shape dumplings
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each into a ball.

  5. Cook dumplings
Gently drop the dumplings into a simmering stew or broth. Cover with a lid and cook for 15–20 minutes, avoiding lifting the lid while they cook so they rise evenly.

  6. Serve and enjoy
Once cooked, serve the dumplings on top of your favourite stew or soup for a hearty, traditional meal.

Tip: For a spring twist, try adding chopped fresh herbs or a pinch of black pepper to the dough for extra flavour.

These dumplings make the perfect addition to a Sunday roast or family stew, and highlight the rich, natural flavour of high-quality organic suet.
