Eversfield Organic Totnes Farm Shop and Café Review

Being the newest member of the Eversfield Organic team has its advantages. The opportunity to visit the stunning farm shops and sample the delicious food they offer is just one of them…

Along the cobbles of The Plains in Totnes sits Eversfield Organic’s newest farm shop and accompanying organic café. Just off the busier Totnes high street, the location of the shop sees an alluring combination of quietness and excitement perfect for a brunch date or study session alike. Close to the picturesque river Dart, the Eversfield Organic café is a universal stop-off, whether you need warming up on a cold winter walk or a breather from all the local shopping.

The Farm Shop

The bright blue of the Eversfield Organic branding stands out against the seasonal orange and gold of the shop window, beautifully decorated accordingly with pumpkins and hampers filled with festive gifts. Inside, greeted by friendly and helpful staff, a tour of the shop demonstrates the wealth of produce available from Eversfield Organic. The traditionally trained butchers on the butchery counter offer a knowledgeable yet welcoming approach, displaying the impressive array of 100% grass-fed meats sourced from the Eversfield Organic and surrounding farms. Alongside, large refrigerators host delicious cheese and charcuterie and every vegetable you could ever want is found in the centre of the modern shop, which still manages to hold a traditional farm shop feel. The spacious shop has a buzzy atmosphere, still with enough space to browse, and a lovely sentiment is presented as a trickle of locals browse the shelves and support organic despite only opening half an hour earlier. Tucked away in the back-left corner is perhaps the most notable of all – a wine cave of dreams for any liquor lover overseen by Eversfield Organic’s very own sommelier Maria.

The Organic Café

Following the delicious smells of breakfast, a large circular staircase at the core of the shop leads to the newly instated Eversfield Organic café. The space is bright and open with stunning illustrations filling the walls, showcasing the history of the farm and demonstrating exactly where the food is sourced from. Greeted kindly by the café staff, the ambiance of the room is perfectly paired with a pot of warming organic tea and the morning’s newspaper. With a little convincing from the staff, Truffled Mushrooms with Garlic and Parsley on Sourdough Toast tickles the tastebuds, evidencing the superiority of organic flavours. All food and drink served here is organic, supplied from local farms and surrounding artisan producers showcasing the best from the South West. Those with a sweet tooth are also cater for, as a dazzling selection of freshly baked cakes are displayed at the head of the café. Luckily, these are available for takeaway after a filling and satisfying breakfast. What’s more, you can even treat yourself to an afternoon alcoholic tipple at the café too.

As good as an organic food box delivery can be, both the farm shop and the café are now open seven days a week, presenting even more reason to visit Eversfield Organic Totnes.

The Eversfield Organic Farm Shop and Café is at The Plains, Totnes and open from 8:30am every day.
